Chocolate can absolutely be part of a nourishing lifestyle—and this Vegan Chocolate Mousse is proof. Rich, creamy, and deeply satisfying, this dessert is made with whole-food ingredients and naturally sweetened, making it a guilt-free way to enjoy something decadent. The secret ingredient? Raw cacao—a powerful superfood that supports both body and mood.

What Is Raw Cacao?

Raw cacao is not the same as cocoa. Unlike conventional cocoa powder, raw cacao is made by cold-pressing unroasted cacao beans, which helps preserve its powerful nutrients and antioxidants.

Raw cacao is naturally mood-elevating and contains compounds that support feelings of wellbeing and joy. It’s rich in antioxidants that support heart health and contains neurotransmitters that influence mood and pleasure—one reason chocolate cravings are so common.

It’s also the highest plant-based source of iron and one of the richest natural sources of magnesium, a mineral many people are deficient in. Magnesium plays a vital role in regulating muscle and nerve function, balancing blood sugar, supporting bone health, and even combating symptoms of depression.

On top of that, raw cacao contains over 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries and more calcium than cow’s milk—without the dairy that many people struggle to digest.

Adding raw cacao to desserts or smoothies is a beautiful way to enjoy chocolate in its most nourishing form, without refined sugars, preservatives, additives, or dairy.

Vegan Chocolate Mousse Ingredients

  • Ripe Hass avocados, pitted and scooped

  • Vegan semi-sweet chocolate, melted

  • Raw cacao powder

  • Non-dairy milk of choice

  • Liquid sweetener of choice

  • Pure vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

  • Fresh sliced strawberries for garnish (optional)

  • Coconut whipped cream for topping (optional)

How to Make Vegan Chocolate Mousse

Place all ingredients into the bowl of a food processor or blender and blend until completely smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed to ensure everything is fully incorporated.

The mousse can be enjoyed right away for a soft, pudding-like texture, or placed in the refrigerator to chill for one to two hours for a thicker, more traditional mousse consistency.

Before serving, add toppings of your choice such as fresh strawberries or a dollop of coconut whipped cream.

For a lighter, fluffier texture, transfer the chocolate mousse to a mixing bowl and gently whisk in a small amount of coconut whipped cream until your desired consistency is reached.

This vegan chocolate mousse is rich, satisfying, and nourishing—perfect for dinner parties, celebrations, or simply when you want something sweet that loves you back.
